I assume Isabella Lambie died between the birth of George, 8 June 1830, and David's assumed marriage to Janet Goldie, 29 July 1836. I can't think on a way to prove it. The only children with David Vallance and Jean [sic] Goldie in the 1841 Old Cumnock census are Smiths from her previous marriage. So far I have not traced the whereabouts of Isabell (1827) and George. If you wish to continue off line, e-mail me at (my daughter's address, but she won't mind)and we can take it from there. I should point out that (as far as I know) I am not descended from David Vallance - I have made a study of all the West of Scotland Vallances.

Hugh McIntyre.
