Hi Aldo,

I'll have to find our family tree to check out the year Pio was in the Philippines - however; the Spanish have been coming since Ferdinand Magellan in the 1500s and some Italians were apparently on their ships. So the Italians could have set foot on the islands anytime in the 400 years of Spanish occupation in the Philippines, one can say. It is well known that the Portuguese were there (my mom's half-sister's father was of Portuguese descent and they all lived in the Philippines, so we just have to find someone of Filipino descent who can verify that the Italians were around at the same time)!
