So I was pretty excited to find something on the net on my family. I'm your husband's cousin from Moses Lake, Washington. Yes, there are Valenzuela's in Washington. We met last year at your wedding. Anyway, I wanted to update you on some missed information that you have on your South Texas Valenzuelas'. You'll have to forgive me but this is coming from stories I was told as a little girl. So, don't quote me on it. Diego Valenzuela was actually Felipe Cabrerra. He was from Jerez, Zachatecas(probably not spelled correctly since my Spanish is not to good). Grandpa was raised by his dad and a step mom. His mom died when he was young. His step mom was really mean so basically he and his brothers raised themselves. He changed his name to Diego when he left the Army in Mexico. They wouldn't let him leave so as to not be found and then punished he changed his name and then went to the US. I want to say that I think Diego was the name of a dead relative. So we actually do have Valenzuela's that are related to us. He married my grandma Maria de Jesus Martinez and they had Nico, Tino, Domingo (my dad), Daniel(died when he was 6), Rogelio, Rosie, Rafael, Diana, Noe and Noelia. My dad said he remembers my grandpa spoke of a daughter he had with a lady that he obviously never married that was in Mexico. She would probably be in her 70's if she is alive. Dad has always said it would be nice to meet her if we could. Grandma's family we don't know to much about because we didn't really see them. I believe we met them once unfortunately it was at her funeral. But I can't remember. She was raised by her mom and we don't know anything about her dad. We (speaking about me and my siblings) always like to think that her dad was oriental since she looks Japanese. Who knows. We have family in Texas, Mexico, California, Indiana, Washington and I believe in Arizona or Nevada. Just a little update you may want to add. Who knows maybe the lady in Mexico has family and they may read this and maybe would contact you. That would be fun. Precilia Notify Administrator about this message?
