Dear Cynthia, A few years ago, I think in 2000 I posted a message for a lady named Barbara with the information that is in Lydia Leffler book regarding the Silver Broach. My name is Cynthia D. Vale Moravec, I have both books and I met George Walker Vale in 1976, he gave me a copy of the book he wrote. My father had the original book passed down from his gg Aunt Lydia Leffler at one time. Now we only have copies. I hope this helps. I don't have any other information on the brooch. This is what is written in Lydia Anne Vale Leffler's book. Her research was done prior to 1913 and most of it came from the actual family members. Jacob Vale, son of John, son of Robert Vale & Sarah Buller Vale, married, first Olivia McCarty;second, Catherine Jones, Jacob Vale was born the 6th month 3rd day, 1808; married, the 10th month, 9th day, 1850, Catherine Jones. Their children; John Franklin Vale--born January 22, 1855; married Iona Shaw. Caroline M. Vale--born 4-8-1857; married Daniel Woodley. Erastus A. Vale--born 1-17-1859;married 12-26, Alice Smith. Jacob C. Vale--born 3-22-1860. Clara E. Vale--born 10-11-1862;married12-9-1886, Charles Morris. Minnie R. Vale--born 5-24-1865;married 7-26-1883, Charles Shaw; 2nd, 7-14-1812, James C. Stout. Elizabeth C. Vale--born 10-11-1867;married 2-19-1896, Ira C. Waldon. William E. Vale--born 12-5-1869;married 7-26-1902, Iris Kinsey. The book goes on to tell and I Quote. "The widow of Jacob Vale, Mrs. Catherine Jones Vale of Pekin, Illinois, is still living. Their children have in their possession a slver brooch which was owned and worn by Robert Vale.1". I hope this will help you, I wonder what ever happened to the silver brooch, if it is still in the family I would greatly apprieciate a picture of it to put in the family book when I update it. There were more than 2 John Franklin Vale,s and the update that was done on this bool was about John Franklin Vale son of Levi and Lucinda Baxter Vale , son of James, son of John, son of Robert and they ended up in Oberlin, Kansas. Write back soon and tell me what you think! I really love this stuff. Notify Administrator about this message?
