More info about Vale children:
Frederick Vale who was 10 years old as of Dec. 6, 1911; his brother George William who was age 14 as of Sept. 12, 1911; and his sister Ellen Florence who was age 11 as of July 1911, all came to Canada together.
According to the Application on Middlemore Reel A-2105, vol. 247, case # 3217, dated Sept. 22, 1911:
The mother was Ruth Vale, no known address and she had only these three children. All were legitimate; father dead 7 years. Mother had been a scrubber at Birmingham workhouse but recently lost her work and was turned out of her house last week for arrears of rent. She was found by police sleeping outdoors with the children. She consented to children coming to our Homes so case was dismissed in court.
Upon their arrival in Halifax on June 8, 1912:
Frederick was placed with a Mr Frank Scott of Honeydale, Charlotte County, New Brunswick; George William was placed with a Mr George Roberts location unknown; Ellen was placed with a Mrs Hugh Brown at Moores Mills, Charlotte County, New Brunswick.
Will keep posted.
