JOHN F. VALE DIES

John F Vale, for ten years a resident of Mulvane, and for 42 years a resident of Kansas, passed away at his home in Mulvane, Saturday, Jan 16, after an illness which had its inception about a year ago and which assumed a critical phase about four months ago. Paralysis was the immediate cause of death. Mr. Vale was 71 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Vale came to this city from Wellington, and for the past few years he had been employed by Walt Farber in construction work. A faithful, conscientious worker, he had the friendship and respect of everyone who knew him. Especially fond of children, he was known to all the little ones as "Uncle John," and many older folks knew him best by that name.

He is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters, besides four brothers, three sisters, 11 granchildren and many other relatives and friends. Besides immediate relatives, those from a distance who were here for the funeral services were Ira Shaw, and Chas. Shaw, Jefferson, Ok., brothers of Mrs. Vale; her niece, Mrs. Chas. Pyle and Mr. Pyle, of Protection; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Webster, Mrs. W., W,. Ray and Mrs. Maple, all of Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. John Messmer, of Cheney; Mrs. Lela Shouer, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Beacraft of Wellington.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Monday afternoon with Rev. A. J. Rhodes officiating, and burial was made in the Belle Plaine cemetery. An obituary appears elsewhere in the News.

---The Mulvane News 21 January 1926
==========================================================

Death notice and obituary were found in the Mulvane News and The Belle Plaine News. Dates were 21 Jan and 28 Jan 1926.

Only three sisters were listed --- don't know if I missed the fourth, or if only three were listed. Mulvane doesn't have a printer, so I copied by hand.

There is obviously more than one John Franklin Vale -- as I had been given information that he was born in Iowa and died in Indiana. Information from several census records had him born in Illinois, so was happy to find this obituary -- and his burial place. He owned three plots in the Belle Plaine Cemetery, but there are no stones.

Need Iona (Shaw) Vale's death date ???? Anyone??
