I'm looking for the parents of my George Vair b. November 07, 1802, Scotland. He had a son James.

George married Mary Lowrie March 08, 1833, Scotland, and they came to Portage County, Ohio in 1837.

They had children:
Alexander b. October 11, 1835, Scotland
Christina b. July 3, 1837, at sea on the vessel Clyde, off the coast of Newfoundland -- my gr gr grandmother
James b. May 24, 1842, Portage County, Ohio
Unknown b. unknown, died in infancy

Mary was a daugter of Alexander Lowrie b. 1785, Dunse, Berwickshire, Scotland and Christina Waters/Watters b. July 07, 1781.

Alexander and Christina immigrated at the same time, with several of their children. Alexander died in Cleveland, Ohio, never reaching the final destination.

I've heard it said that all the Vairs in the U. S. today descend from George, but I've done a fair amount of research on the family and have seen a few I can't tie to.
