Where do your Vaillants come from? I have relatives who married into that family in the 1830's and 1840's in Frontenac Co. Ontario, also Illinois, but the Vaillants there came from L'Assomption in Lower Canada (Quebec) in the early 1800's. Do you know the name of August's father or grandfather? Ours anglicized their surname to Vallier, Valier, Value, Valyere, Valyear, etc. Some given names of our Vaillants were Alexis, Louison, Jean Baptiste, Joseph, Edouard, Omer, Charles, and Daniel.
