Sarah Vaden who married Archibald McDaniel Mozley was the daughter of Catherine Mozley and William Vaden. Just which William this is can be debated, but Sarah Vaden was 1st cousin to Archibald McDaniel Mozley. These marriages comes from a notarized letter from Norman Adolphus Mozley, a lawyer, who wrote it for his neice, in 1893. He states that this information is what his grandfather told to him. Norman Adolphos Mozley was the son of John Norman Mozley, son of John Mozley who went to Bedford Co., Tennessee with James H. Mozley and William Vaden. It is really assumed that they all went together, but I am not sure of this-I do believe that they went in the same time frame and it does seem likely that they traveled together.

It is confusing that William H. and William were both in TN at the same time. I could not find William H. for sure after the 1820 census of Bedford Co. William and Loderick were in Smith Co. in 1820-therefore the William I found in 1830 in Smith is not William H., but his cousin William. I think that William died between 1820 and 1830, and Catherine, his wife, died before 1820. He may have married after or have been married before Catherine, but Sarah is the daughter of Catherine.

Thank you

Mona Herrin
