My husband and I went to Sherman and found the Sherman ranch where James Harding Vaden and Elizabeth Rusk Jackson Vaden homesteaded in 1843. Tennie Vaden is their granddaughter... so was my grandmother. I talked with several women who knew Tennie including my mother's cousin's wife. The ranch is about three miles west of Sherman on HWY 82 on the north side of the road. It's a white farm house, still occupied.
