Roger, Thanks for your reply. The Verboncoeur information has been impossible to find since none of my wife's relatives are living and never talked about it or left written records.
Here is what we know:
Moise V. was born 9-9-1844 and died 3-29-1927. He married Mary Ann "Gertie" ?? V. and both are buried in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
I found two land patents with Moise's name:
1. From Western Land grants in Canada 1870-1930 near Cold Lake, Albert
NE Section 14, Township 63, Range @ Meridan W4, ...no maps
2. 3-1-1886 Land Patent in Red Lake County, 160 acres T150N, Range 43W, Section 1, 152.82 acres Terrebonne Township south of Red Lake Falls, Mn.
Moise and Mary Ann supposedly lived in Terrebonne Township since Rose Alma and 5 other children were born there. Rose was born April 16, 1880 and died Oct. 25, 1957 in Bemidji,Mn. Moise and Mary Ann V. had 6 children: Agnas b1883,d4-12-1942, Mary, John(lived in Cold Lake), Anna, Liza Elizabeth, Ida, Frances, and Rose Alma "Emma"
Rose married Oliver Thomas Belair April 8, 1901 in Red Lake Falls, Mn. Moise signed their marriage certificate so he was living there or ?? They had 9 children. All of the children were born in Red Lake Falls, Mn. Both Rose and Oliver are buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Bemidji, Mn.
Rose and Oliver are my wife's grandparents. They left Red Lake Falls in 1920 and resided thereafter in Bemidji, Mn. I can send you more family tree members on the Belair side(Rose's Children) if necessary.
I would like all the information that you have...appreciate your e-mail. Feel free to send anything you have on this family.
With best regards, Terry Torgerson
