Hi Marty,

Richard Parran TINSLEY, b. 10 Aug. 1867, was the son of Dr. Alexander TINSLEY 1832- 1911/2, s/o Thomas Garland TINSLEY 1788- 1859 and Harriet Washington BRYAN, his 1st. wife. Dr. Alexander TINSLEY was married in Shepardstown, now W. Va., on 22 Jan. 1863 by C. W. ANDREWS, to Mary Dare PARRAN, known as Dare, born 26 July 1836, to Dr. Richard PARRAN Jr., 1810- 1851, of Md. and Shepardstown, s/o Richard PARRAN Sr. and Mary DARE of Calvert Co. Richard PARRAN m. 29 Nov. 1832 Shepardstown, to Laura E. MORGAN 1815- 1895, dau. of Rawleigh MORGAN and Elizabeth RICHARDS, his 2nd. wife.

Dr. Richard PARRAN and Laura MORGAN had:

2) Elizabeth Morgan PARRAN 'Lillie ' m. Lt. Willliam F. LEE, our line.
3) Mary Dare PARRAN m. Dr. Alexander TINSLEY, children:

b) Richard Parran TINSLEY above, m. 1896, Lucy Marshall MORRIS, in Philly, no known children.
c) Laura Parran TINSLEY b. 17 Apr. 1870, m. 1898 Carey COALE, had Alexander Carey and Dare Parran ( female ) COALE.

f) Rosa Dare TINSLEY b. 1 Sep. 1883
4) Anne Sellman ( Annie ) PARRAN, died unmarried, teacher.
5) Laura Louisa PARRAN m. Robert Byrd LEWIS, no children.

I hope this helps, the PARRAN girls as they were known, were somewhat of a sensation in Shepardstown during the Civil War. These dates come from the MORGAN and PARRAN Bibles that our family has. This family has a Royal connection though the PARRAN side from Maria J. SOMERSET who m. Richard SMITH Jr. as his 3rd. wife, thier son Charles Somerset SMITH's dau. from 1st. wife Jane CRABB, Elizabeth ( SMITH ) WILKINSON m. Hon. Young PARRAN, her 2nd. marriage. Her sister Ann m. Samuel PARRAN, brother of Young, sons of Alexander PARRAN and 2nd. wife Mary YOUNG. Our family comes from Young and Elizabeth's son John PARRAN, who m. Anne BOURNE, thier son was Richard PARRAN Sr.. Mary DARE's parents were Nathaniel DARE, son of Nathaniel DARE and Ann ( CHEW ) TONGUE, and Jane GRAY. These families were in Calvert, Anne Arundel and later Balitmore Co.'s Maryland. How are related to this family??

I look forward to hearing from you,
Kathleen
