Looking for Wilburn Hall.
Greeting folks! Sure hope that someone out there can help me. My grandmother's father was Wilburn Hall. My grandmother, Janine Hall, was born December 3, 1916, in Dorchester, Wise County, Virginia. Her father died when she was really young. A couple of years ago, I did a oral interview with my grandmother and here is the information that she gave me to go on. Her father, Wilburn Hall, was born in Harland County, Kentucky, and was raised by someone in the King family (King?, Keans?). He married Rachel Robinson, of Benham, Harlan County,
Kentucky. (1901-1964). They were living in Virginia when my grandmother was born. My grandmother said that "He worked in the mines, then he got sick and went over to Kentucky to some of his people and they put him in a hospital and he died in the hospital." One other clue that she left was this: "But my daddy had an uncle that killed seven men. They called him Big John Hall from Kentucky…"
Now, I think (just theories) that "Big John Hall" is "Bad John Hall" from Floyd County, Kentucky. I have found three Wilburn Halls in Floyd County that fit the age of what I think(!) I am looking for. They are: Wilburn L. Hall b. Aug. 1892 to Elisha Hall and Nannie (?); 2. Wilburn D. Hall, b. Nov. 1895 to Jack hall and Temperance (?) and, 3. Wilburn Hall, b. c.1895 to John M. Hall and Katherine (?)
Anyone out there related to any of these folks? I am currently going through census records, and have looked for a death certificate in Harlan County, but not Floyd County. I was able to find a Wilburn Hall that died in Pike County, Kentucky, age 25, on October 19, 1923.
Thanks for any help!
