I have run across the same information you have provided. In the 1880 US census, I found a Feris, (I think) and a Margaret Markum. John is listed as 5 years old (son). In the marriage registry of 1902, I found John Markum and Martha J. Gilliam both ages of 21. Their parents names, I cannot make out the mother and fathers names. I can send you a copy of what I have and see if you can identify the correct info. Please send me your email address and phone number if you don't mind so I can contact you.
Martha J. would have been my Great Grandmother. Do you have other related information to share? Any information on Eliza Gilliam Neal? She was born in 1895, I think. Married Nov. 4, 1909 in Hancock Co. Tenn. she married a David Neal. I have all the information on the Neal Family.
