It was on the LDS Pilot site. And it is entirely possible she was not, there were quite a few babies born during the Civil war era that could not be explained by the birth date, and I am sure that if bushwackers were in the area, its possible that Perlina did not excape unharmed. My Husbands Rose family were from VA. but migrated to KY and TENN by 1850s and I have never been able to Prove exactly which Rose family he came out of although his father was reported to be Jacob Rose with his mother being Lydia Birchfield.

I looked at the Civil war records for Va and the only John Rose that was listed didnt die until after 1902 but he was from Norfolk and if you John was not actually in the service but just an innocent farmer then there probably would not be any record of his actually dying. However, there was a John Rose listed on the land records in 1804 in Rockingham co. and I know for sure that there was one listed in Augusta co. way before that. both counties close to Wise co.

I wish I could give you more info that would help, but Good luck with your search.

Sue
