Is there a Wise County Genealogy Library?

My Daddy, Thomas Vernon Meade, was born in Norton, VA along with his siblings. His father was Henry Floyd Meade m. Rebecca Jesse and then m. Mary Elizabeth Salyer.

Is there a good genealogy library in the area that I could find lots of information if I planned a trip there? I haven't been there since I was a teenager and my Daddy was still alive.

I saw that you can join the Wise County Gen. Society for $10.00 a year for only one newsletter a year. Is this a good thing? Since I don't have a job at the moment, I don't want to spend money for that and for a trip to Norton for something that is not useful. Are there any other perks to joining the Society?

Any details and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
~Debbie~
