Alexander McGuire left a will proved in 1772 naming Alexander, John, Travis and Martha as his children. Marriage records and deeds show these same names, but they do not line up with individuals born in the mid 1700s. The children would have to have been adults in 1772 to receive property without being held in trust by a guardian. It appears that there is a generation missing from what I have been able to put together.

However, I believe that John had brothers Travis and Alexander since Travis married Becky Sutton on the same day in 1809 as John married Mary Pilsbury, and Alexander married Elizabeth Sutton in 1811. Do you have birth dates for John and Mary? I could only guess that they were in their twenties and less than that if a parent gave consent. There are several Sutton and McKinney marriages and land transactions in the court house records. I can send you the transcriptions. Should I use the email address listed for you?

Kathy
