Westmoreland County Original Families That Later Moved To Charles County, MD

Hello,

I am wondering why so many of the families who were from Westmoreland County, VA later moved to Charles County, Maryland, many more than those families from King George, VA.

For instance I know families like to Franklin and Johnson families I'm working on alot of them originally came from Westmoreland Co.

Does anyone know what was behind their move?
