I've been trying to find out whether or not Tucker Hill is related to my Tucker ancestors. I found in "Virginia Place Names: Derivations, Historical Uses" by Raus McDill Hanson this description: "Tucker Hill: Pop. 50. In northeast corner of county [Westmoreland]. James Tucker, prominent resident in colonial days. Originally called Tucker's Hill. Mr. Tucker owned fowl and enjoyed cock fights." So I've been hunting for the James Tucker mentioned.
You have in your message of February, 2001, that the town was named for John Tucker. That would be a lot neater because John was my ancestor. Do you have some source for that derivation of the town's name?
