Baptist and Deskins Valley

In trying to research some of my Deskins ancestors i see references to a John Deskins as being an early settler in Baptist Valley as well as reference to a Deskins Valley and even a Deskins mtn .

Does anyone have any additional info regarding these sites or which Deskins they were specifically named after ? Trying to determine the name of the Deskins that married a Sarah Roark of Roark's Gap , Va . He supposedly died of some "unfortunate incident" and she remarried and later shows up in Logan Co , Wv around 1800 with a son named John Deskins .

Any data or links greatly appreciated as i am half way around the world and can't get there from here . :-)
