I am looking for information on the family of my great-grandfather, Lee Pruett, who lived in Tazewell and Smyth Counties of Virginia in the late 1800's and early 1900's. In the 1900 census of Tazewell Co. (Clearfork precinct) there is a Lee Pruett living with his wife Luvenia and daughter Lillie (b. 1900). When my great-grandfather Lee Pruett married my great-grandmother Nannie Dillion in Tazewell Co, VA in 1906, he listed his status as divorced. I believe that the Lee Pruett married to Luvenia in 1900 is the same person as my great-grandfather. He is listed living almost next door to the family of J. Tyler Frazier, with whom my great-grandfather moved to Smyth County, VA just a few years later. Also nearby is the family of Pleasant Bailey and his wife Caroline. Pleasant Bailey married Caroline Pruitt in 1868. My great-grandfather's marriage certificate lists his mother's name as Caroline. Also, in the 1910 census of Smyth County, Lee Pruett's household includes his mother Caroline Barley (Bailey?), and in 1917, a Caroline Bayley died in Smyth Co., VA. I am desperately trying to sort out this puzzle, and any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
