try this address for the Topo Map and the rivers and waterways you are looking for. I live in the area of Blackwater River and googled it often. It has an interuption of flow, possible swampy/underground second breaking the river into sections as it travel from Surry to Isle of Wight then south through Southampton Co and intersects with the Nottoway. It is a tidal River and flows south to in the Chowan of NC.
