The best I can offer you is the same as before, I strongly recommend that you visit the Roanoke Public Library as they are just about the best as far as I have seen. Almost all of the information that I have on other lines than my own is thanks to their diligence in collecting anything and everything concerning Va. (and other states too). I think you will be glad you did! I am, and will forever be indebted to the Va. Room! That is where I got the information that I just gave you as the Cockes aforementioned intermingles with many prestigeous families.
The Va. Room might even have purchased the book called "Southside Virginia Genealogies" by John W. Pritchett. This man has done some absolutely outstanding work regarding genealogy and I positevely recommend his works to everyone. He is very thorough and can even tell you what counties to go to for your research (if you still need any after reading his book) and even where some of your family members are buried!
I gotta run as I have much to do in my genealogy and I am falling behind!
Yes, we just may be related like you say, as this line does run into the Thorntons and other names related to my line.
Best of luck to you and do enjoy your trip to Virginia. I know when I went there, the minute my feet touched the ground I just knew I was "home" is in the genes and in the blood and in the genetics...I don't care what anybody says! : )
Have a good one, June, and good luck!!
Margie Byrd
