Thanks, Margie...I was in hopes of searching a local library in Southwark Parish or Surry Co...I have been a member of the Surry Co, VA historical society, and there is no information, that I can find, in their publications or on their website about my line of Cockes...My line is from Walter Flood Cocke who married Mary Mason...their son, Thomas Cocke who married Hannah Hamlin...their son, Lemuel Cocke who married Jane Browne...their son, Henry Cocke who married Katherine Holt...their son, Henry Cocke Jr, who married Lucy Terrell...

From Walter Cocke born in Eng, to VA, and his son, Thomas, born in VA, his grandson, Lemuel, born in VA, his great-grandson, Henry Cocke, born in VA...Each of these were married and died in Southwark Parish, Surry Co, VA...

Henry Cocke Sr's, son, Henry Cocke Jr,(gggrandson) born in Surry, but moved sometime, before 1799, when he married Lucy Terrell in Wake Co, NC...I have the wills of Walter, Thomas, Lemuel and Henry Cocke Sr...these were all written in Southwark Parish, Surry Co, VA...I would think that a family who had lived that many years, in one area, would have some history, in the area where they were all raised, built, traded, and survived...but, so far nothing can be found...although, I haven't been there...and thank you for your comments...not being familiar, I will try to do my searching in a larger VA library...and save my trip to sight-see for a another time...Thanks, again...Would you suggest the library you mentioned or one at the state capital...or another large one closer to this Southwark Parish or Surry Co? Any suggestions appreciated! Dee
