The only thing I saw was Merrit Spratley was he applied for Civil War Pension Surry Co on March 3, 1891 US 6 Infantry.
Sprately families owned three plantations during War Between States--- New Hope, The Glebe, and Pigeon Swamp.
In 1782-1784 There were four Spratley heads of families in Surry County, William, John, Benjamin, Thomas.
Sorry this was all I could find. Joy in Virginia (no kin just retired and bored ha ha)
