For what it is worth:

My cousin wrote a book on the Epps of Surry Co VA who are related by marriage to the Hunnicutt line. This is what she has:
John Hunnicutt had son Augustine who married Phoebe Crews. They had Augustine IV who married unknown first and Bramble Hart second. The 4 children were by the unknown wife, Elizabeth Williams, Lucy Petteway, Ann Wright, and Hartwell who married Mary Seward and lived near Bacon's Castle in Surry Co. This Hartwell and Mary Seward had William who married Betsy Smally, Wyatt who married Lucy Bell Gwaltney, Elijah who died unmarried, Lucy who married Richard Thomas and Caufield who married Mary Clinch Hunnicutt (widow of Thomas Hunnicutt, who was a cousin to Caufield (Coffield). My cousins' line runs through Caufield's son James Augustine Hunnicutt.

The John Hunnicutt who married Jemima Rowell also had a son named Hartwell but he died in SC in 1821.
