Dear Ms. Farmer,

I'm afraid I don't have information, but just another question. Here in Stafford we had John H. Suttle (died c.1830) who married Susan Barret Conway (died c.1838). They were the parents of John H. Suttle, Jr. (c.1807-1884) and Charles Francis Suttle (1807-1881). John H. Suttle, Jr. married Catherine Tolson (died 1844) by whom he had a son named John Benjamin T(olson?) Suttle (1844-1884). I don't know where the elder John H. Suttle came from. He seems to have been one of many who came into Stafford for the purpose of working the sandstone quarries during the years the new city of Washington was being built. He ran William W. Robertson's quarry for some years and his father-in-law was also in the stone business.

I'd very much like to know where John H. Suttle came from. I'd also like to know what his middle name was. From what I've been able to gather, the names Suttle and Settle were often used interchangeably.
