John Hopwood(1745-1802)...VA>>PA...family life?

My ggggggrandfather was John Hopwood(1745 Virginia-1802 Pennsylvania) and I want to know more of his story.

Some family background information...
My gggggrandmother was his daughter Lucinda Hopwood (b. 1774) who married a (Thomas?) Farr in "Woodstock" (also Monroe/Hopwood), Fayette County PA.
Two of her sisters married DeFord brothers(sons of John, grandsons of John & descendants of French Huguenots). Elizabeth Hopwood(b. ?) married Marchant(Merchant/Merchand).
Nancy(1782-1815) became John Deford's first wife in 1799, his second being Lydia Brownfield/Bromfield(d. 1838).
John Deford operated a famous Inn in Hopwood for 40 years(from about 1802) before finally moving to his extensive Ohio holdings, where he died at the age of 100+.
Her sister Charlotte(b. 1776) married Phillip(or Isaac?) Sutton.
Her oldest sibling, her brother Moses(b. April 22, 1772 in Dumfries Va, died in 1857 in Monroe/Hopwood PA) married Hannah Gaddis, daughter of Colonel Thomas Gaddis.

I am interested in any possible family writings(Bibles, diaries, letters) that might stil exist within the various descendant families. Also any published materials, such as mentions in newspapers, obituaries, etc. The timeline between 1770 (when John Hopwood married Hannah Bearcroft Humphries in Virginia) and 1802 (when John Hopwood died in Fayette County PA) is somewhat mysterious to me.
For instance, Nancy Hopwood was either born in Maryland. Or in Shephardstown/Shepherdstown/Berkley County WV. Or in Stafford/Prince William County VA. We (relations extending to 1st/2nd/3rd cousins ascending/descending & to aunts/uncles) have *nothing* published or personal up until our closer relatives dating from the mid-late 19th Century.

There were five Humphries/Hopwood children - Moses, Charlotte(Sutton), Elizabeth (Deford), Nancy (Deford) and Lucinda (Farr). I have some bits and pieces on John Hopwood & the family from his marriage until his death, but there are gaps in the timeline. He published his Town Charter of Woodstock in 1791. On May 21 1792, a one line "want ad" of sorts was published in a Frederick County VA./Winchester VA paper:

Bowen's CENTINEL AND GAZETTE -WINCHESTER POLITICAL REPOSITORY (Frederick County, Va.)
Issue May 21, 1792
Woodstock Town, Fayette Co. Pennsylvania, foot of Laurel Hill. John Hopwood is laying out lots for purpose of erecting places of Public worship.

It is generally accepted that the family was apparently living in the village prior to the Town Charter publication, but where exactly the family lived between Virginia and settling in Pennsylvania are full of conjecture. The details(and even just the general outline) of the John Hopwood family's life before their time in "Woodstock PA" are mostly unknown.

Are there records somewhere or perhaps an old family Bible that another descendant family branch has or knows about? Since I am descended from Lucinda and we have nothing, my thoughts are that perhaps Moses'(as the only son & the eldest) & Hannah Gaddis' descendants might have or know of any written sources, like letters, diaries, newspaper clippings or privately published acounts...anything to do with the family's Virginia to Pennsylvania trek. For instance, in that day an eldest son might be given the family Bible and therefore the documents would be passed down in his lineage.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!
