Spotsylvania Virginia Hicks/Carter/Davenport/Proctors

I'm researching the families listed above. My ancestor is Peter Hicks b. in 1769, but where? He married Sarah Davenport. Her grandfather was Henry Carter b. 1750. The records in the county of Spotsylvania are limited as they were ruined during the Civil War. I keep thinking someone, somewhere has a family bible that might help me figure out these families, especially Peter Hicks. Anyone with info or who have DNA on the Hicks family, please contact me!
