Tela- Sorry, I have no information about your ancestor John R Gatewood. I did take the time to look at Court Records here: http://www.historiccourtrecords.org/courtrecordsearch.asp, and here: http://crhc.pastperfect-online.com (Central Rappahannock Heritage Center), but the only John R Gatewood record I found is an 1862 marriage - Catalog Number       2004-040-048-009
