I am familair with the "other" William who married Nan (Ann) Chew. In many cases their descendants get mixed in with those of William that married Mary Goodloe.

Your Richard married Dorothy Waller and our Henry married Agnes Carr Waller, Dorothy's first cousin. There was bound to be confusion!

I have not yet found any Johnston family connection between the two Williams but the similarities they share make it sometimes hard to distinguish between them in the old records.

I took part in a Y-DNA study and no one matched to me axactly. The closest matches (one unit off) were all from families that appear to be from the Aberdeen area of Scotland. But, I have still not yet been about to discover my immigrant Johnston ancestor. It might be William, but I suspect more likely it was his father.

I am reminded of what the poet Robert Burns once said,
"Who's like us? Damn few, and they're dead!"
