In Reply to: John Wallers Bridge and Mattaponey Church locations by Paul Carter of 549

I have seen it written (but can not cite the source at this time) that the home of John Waller called "Newport" was on the south side of the Mat River one half mile south of Duerson's Store and that a bridge at this point may have been called Waller's Bridge. Another source says that the former location of Newport is now on the west side of Rt 738 and south side of Mat River. That same source also says the old Waller Cemetery there is "all in forest."

The Home called Prospect Hill, the home of William Waller, is said to be inside a triangle formed today by Rts. 605, 622, and 738; SW of Waller's Church.
