Thank you for the information.

However, there is at least one correction to your information.

Henry Carter had no middle name. Frances was the name of his wife who was the daughter of John Penn. Frances Carter is named in John Penn's will of 1771 Spotsylvania Co VA, and of her brother William Penn's will of 1781 Spotsylvania Co VA.

There is a puzzling deed recorded in Barren Co KY in 1802 where 2000 acres of land is divided between Henry Carter, James Dodd, William Settle and George Settle, but I cannot determine why or how these 4 men came to possess one tract of land since they were not known to be family related until the following generation when their children intermarried.

I am in possession of all the Barren Co KY deeds, etc. involving this family - it is the earlier info from VA that I am lacking.
