Thank you! I grabbed the engineers map, had it printed at Kinko's and it now hangs in my office for reference. For anyone else who's interested, this is a civil war era engineers map showing Spotsy in 1863. Family names COVER the map. You can get some great info from it as to where your ancestors may have lived. Also on the map are federal and confederate lines. It's a .jpg file about 7 mgs big, so bringing it up on your computer may be combersome. I burned it to CD and ttok it to kinkos and had a large size printed out (The original size is 80 inches tall)

It's the enumeration districts that make me a little crazy in the censes. I might have finally figured them out after all this time.
