Elaine, can you tell me if the Wm. Lawrence who left a will dated 8 Sep 1756, recorded 2 Jun 1758 IOW Co., VA is the father of John Lawrence who d. 1772 IOW Co., VA. Wm's will mentions the following children: sons John and Miles/Mills, and daus: Molly, Ann, and Sally. Thought you might have access to records that could clarify this point. I was not aware that John owned land in Southampton Co. I am assuming that Sarah, William's wife, is the same Sarah who d. 2 Dec. 1762 in Newport Parish, as Wm. mentions his brother-in-law Arthur Applewhaite in his will; then Sarah appoints her brother, Arthur Applewhaite as her executor.
