Martin Wolf was my gggreat grandfather. He was born c. 1792. Died April 24, 1859. Martin Wolf married Rachael DeBord b. circa 1795. Rachel DeBord's ancestry can be traced back to circa 1040. Martin had brother named Jacob Jr., who married Eleanor McReynolds on February 7, 1792. Possibly his second wife.
Martin was the son of Jacob Wolf, Sr. b. circa 1750. Died in 1856 at age 106. Martin's mother was Sally (Catherine) Robinson.
Jacob is believed to have served in American Revolutionary War. He is possibly buried in Greenwood Prebyterian Church Cemetery in Smyth County. Jacob was born in Pa.
My connection: Martin Wolf and Racheal DeBord had daughter named Dicey Jane Wolf.
Dicey married Nathaniel W. Jones. This was Nathaniel's second marriage. Nathaniel is buried at Mt. Zion Presbyterian cemetery in the Wassum Valley area of Virginia. Dicey Wolf Jones is buried at Friendship Cemetery in Washington County, VA. One of their children was James Sheffey Jones, my great grandfather.
James Sheffey had a son named William Henry Jones. Henry married Georgia Anna McCormick. Henry and Annie had a son named Robert Ernest Jones, Sr.--my father.
Dicey had a son before Nathaniel and she married. Don't know if her son was legitimate or not. He did carry the surname of Wolf. His name was Charles Wolf.
Many Wolfs still live in the Marion area of Smyth County.
