My name is Lois Parry. I am doing some research for a friend and am working with a Joseph Swim/Swaim, born 1870, and according to his marriage record, was born in Yadkin County, NC, with his parents being Solomon D. and Sarah L. Swaim.
Joseph (A.) Swim/Swaim was being married under the name Swim to Rosabelle M. Cooper in Smyth County, VA in 1892. I found the marriage record for this couple at the FHL in Salt Lake City. It was in a book, and now I will go back and look for the actual record to see if it matches what the book said.
I have looked in the 1870 and 1880 Census for Yadkin county, NC. Joseph is not listed there with these parents. He is not listed there at all, as far as I can see.
He is listed, with his family in the 1900 Census in SMyth county, with an unusual transcription of his name in the index.
If anyone has any information about these connections, I would really appreciate hearing from you.
