Hi

I've not been able to locate my William Joseph Osborne's father - don't even know his name actually. The only real info I have on him is that his mother was Esther Osborne and he had a sister, Sarah E., b. Washington Co, TN Sept 1847. William J. Osborne was born Oct 25, 1849 also in Washington Co, TN. Esther, Sarah and William lived there thru the 1870 census.

Sarah md. Argel Martin Whetsel and Esther and William were living with them in the 1870 Census.

I know they are somehow related to James Madison Osborne because Sarah lived with James and his family in the 1860 census.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate Esther with either child in the 1850 census. And, although James M.Osborne married Martha Deakins 14 Feb, 1850 in Jonesboro, Washington Co, TN, they are not enumerated anywhere in TN in 1850.

William A. Murduck married Esther Osborne in Washington Co, TN in 1886. When I try to locate him in the 1850 census, he too is missing.

Does anyone have any reliable info as to why so many were missing from the 1850 census??
