Shipp Family of VA/MD/Germany
Posted by: Dee Ann Buck Buck (ID *****9900) Date: February 21, 2011 at 05:42:54

I am tracing the movements of my ancestor Godfrey Shipp who died in Shenandoah Co. VA about 1830. From legal documents:

1782 Frederick Co. VA Godfrey Shipp's estate settlement
1790 Frederick Co. MD list Adam, FREDERICK & Jacob
1800 Frederick Co. MD Godfrey Shipp as a young man
1801 Frederick Co. MD his eldest son John born in
Emmitsburg, MD
1810 Hampshire Co. VA/WV Godfrey Shipp purchases land
1818 Shenandoah Co. VA he purchased land on Stoney Creek
1820 Shenandoah Co. VA listed on census
1830 Shenandoah Co. VA missing, I will check inventory list
for this location, died without a will.

For three generations of family historian have thought my Shipp Family was English and their blood line went back to Wm. Shipp of early Norfolk, VA.

Now I am linking my oldest known Frederick Co. MD Shipp with John Frederick Shipp born 1719 in Germany arrived to Philadelphia, PA in 1741.
