This is indeed interesting. In my family tree, I have a Sarah Pirkeypile of Rockingham Co. who was married to Reuben Long in abt. 1835. However, in 1850, she is living without her husband in Rockingham County. In the same household are her children and her 78 year old mother (name given as Elizabeth Pirkey). Her husband Reuben died in 1885 of paralysis. Since he was alive but not living with Sarah in 1850, I assume they had probably divorced or he had left her for some reason. Therefore, for you to find a Sarah Pirkey Long intrigues me. Could you contact me to exchange info? I also have info on the Jewell family, because they have connections to my Clines from Rockingham County. One of the people in my files is an Emanuel Jefferson Jewell who had a son, William Benson Jewell, probably named in honor of your ancestor. Emanuel had another son named Charles Edward Jackson Jewell and he married Sallie Mae Cline. Sallie Mae was the youngest sister of my great-grandfather John Henry Cline.None of these people are direct descendants (except Sarah's mother Elizabeth) but I still have a lot of material I have gathered over the years and I am willing to share.
