I'm looking for info and especially pictures of William Cabel Rives Strong who was sheriff of Scott County for two terms - 1883-87 and 1891-1905. W.C.R. was the son of Samuel and Nancy Kilgore Alley Strong. He was the grandson of Rev. Robert Kilgore, who built the Kilgore Forthouse and the great-grandson of Patrick Porter, who built Porter's Fort near Dungannon. I have newspaper articles about his hanging of two men on Feb. 6, 1885. I would love to find some pictures of him and any of his children. My grandfather, William Carter Strong was one of his children and the only child with W.C.R.'s 2nd wife, Eliza Carter Strong, who died just after Willie was born. W.C.R. died on Dec. 11, 1918 in Gate City, VA. Thanks.
