Jacob Robert Cress b. 1830 married Minerva Perkins, had four children. He was killed in the civil war. His wife moved to Russell County in the 1870s, Son Calvin Cress b. abt 1850 lived and died in Russell County as did his wife Drucilla White. Their son Scott Gilmore Cress was born in Russell County but married a Eugenie Nash from Scott County, their children were born in Scott County. What I am wondering is could Russell County have been what now is Scott County? Does Mocassin Creek run in Scott or Russell County?
