HWB was my great great grandfather. I have been trying to find information on him in addition to what I already know. He was an itinerant Methodist preacher. Something I read indicated he preached at a church in Knoxville, where I live and that is what peaked my interest. Since then I have found that the State Street Methodist Church in Bristol, VA lists a Rev. HW Bays as its pastor in 1883. Would you know if this is the same person?

By the way, there is a nice photo of Dr. Bays and his family on the web at

The infant in his arms is my grandmother, Virgina Herbert Wilson. She married Fred Faircloth, who died when my father, their only child was very young. She later married Ed Babbitt.

Any information you have on churches where HWB served would be appreciated.
