I am Sandra Shomaker Shull, daughter of Samuel Ryan Shomaker, brother of Edward, and, therefore, Kathy's cousin.
I have a little more information - hope it helps.
Gilmer was the son of Reynolds Sheppard Shomaker, who built the old home place in Russell Co. VA around 1850. He is the son of Samuel Shomaker married Harriett Reynolds 6/1/1815.
This is as far back as I have been able to go with the Shomaker's. I am still working on that side of the family. But I have a little more information on the Reynolds, for whom Todd was named. Harriett Reynolds was the daughter of Bernard Reynolds, who was the son of James Reynolds. James was the son of Richard Reynolds, whose father was also named Richard. This Richard was the son of Christopher Reynolds, the first to settle in America. He was the son of George Reynolds of England.George was the son of Christopher Reynolds, the first known of this side of the family. If you would like to know more about some of these, let me know. I have some spouces, dates and location of births and deaths and in some cases, few more details.
I hope this helps. Tell Kathy hello for me.
