Sorry it took so long to answer you. I have been unusually busy the past month.. I don't think I would be able to send a picture of the marker by e-mail. The writing is small. The following is what it says:
Early Settlers In Russell County
In 1787 Isaiah Salyer 1752-1818 son of Zachariah Salyer 1730-1789 of North Carolina settled on Copper Creek ,two miles southeast of here. Isaiah's brothers John,Benjamin and Zachariah , and sisters Sarah wife of Solomon Salyor and Rebecca wife of Stephen Kilgore settled on nearby land. The Salyer land was officially surveyed in 1790. The Salyers intermarried with other Virginia pioneer families Castle-Issacs-Nickels-Stapleton-Vicars and Byerley.
I wonder if the Byerley should be Byington for my husband's Grandmother was a Byington and the Byington family owned alot of land in the area. My husbands Great Grandmother Susannah Vicars married Shanklen Salyer and they lived across the road from this marker.
