Being from Russell County, VA (wish I lived there now) I can tell you it is Clinchfield. I have never heard of there being a funeral home in Clinchfield. Clinchfield was/is a coal camp. My grandmother was born in 1923 in Wilder which is very close to Clinchfield. Given the time of the babies death, there may not have been a funeral home involved. Many families especially the ones in the mountians of VA and WV tended to their own when it came to funerals. Many of the coffins were hand made by members of the family and the graves were usually hand dug by the men in the family. I noticed in one of your posts you said you could not go to the Russell Co., Va library, is it becaus it is too far from where you live?
Please e-mail me at Hibwife@aol.com and I will see if I can help you further.
