Hello --

I decend from Nevil Wayland Sr also. I just found hte transaction you mention so I was wondering if there was a connection between the Fields and Wayland families. An internet search brought me to your post above. Was William Fields in Spartanburg South Carolina the same William Fields in Russell County, Virginia (later called Scott County)? I suspect they are 2 different people) -- Nevil is in Scott County, Virginia (called Russell at the time, though) from 1797 until his death @ Oct 1806.
