Thanks for that info, Carl. I've also received info in the form of a sworn satatemnet by William M Hale that he was born 1834 in Russell County, VA and he was the half brother of Martha Hale, whose mother was Polly Collins. William's mother was Sarah Fawbush (born 1822 in Sullivan COunty, TN; Sarah's father was possibly Hugh Fawbush, he was born about 1765 in Washington County, TN).
William further stated that his father (my great great grandfather) was born about 1808 near Avington, VA. Upon searching for Avington, VA I found that he may have misspelled the location. I did find Abingdon, VA, which is in Washington County, VA. With the two counties of Washington County, VA and Washington County, TN being so close to each other it seems plausible that my great great grandfather could have gone from one the county in VA to the county in TN and married my great great grandmother (Sarah Fawbush).
