Kay. Thank you for your reply. I was aware of Mark Whitaker being mantioned in Vol. 1 of Holston Methodism. I was not awareof the book "Journal and Letters of Francis Asbury edited by Clark". Do you know Clark's full name?
I am deep into researching my ggggrandfather Mark Whitaker. I live in SC and have visited the Castlewood VA area a few times. I found where Mark purchased 100 acres on the south side of the Clinch River in 1805. This is about 2-3 miles west of Castlewood/Banners Corner. This was land originally purchased by Frederick Fraley from the Royal Land Company and settled by Fraley in 1769. Mark Whitaker purchased the land from Frederick Fraley's son-in-law.
From everything I read the Moores Fort must have been very near this land. I have yet to find exactly where it was at. Bob.
