At his home in Richland Township on Monday night occurred the death of MICHAEL FOLAND, one of the oldest and best citizens of Decatur County, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and four days, his death being caused from a cancer in his mouth from which he had been a sufferer for some time.
The deceased was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, Jan. l4, l820. At an early age he moved with his parents to Indiana where he was reared to manhood. He was married in Delaware County, Indiana, on October l6, l842, to ELIZABETH SOWERWINE, and to their union were born ten children who have been reared and are comfortably settled in their own homes. MRS. FOLAND died a few years ago.

He came to this country a poor man, but by his own efforts, assisted by his good wife, became quite prosperous and had the satisfaction of seeing all his children comfortably settled in their own homes.
The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at l0 o'clock, interment being in the Ramsey Cemetery by the side of his wife.
